You don't have to know the history of the community to make a community. But if your communitarian project nurtures some idea to also change society with one's own actions, it is not wrong to be aware of the history of the communitarian movement. A fascinating history that reaches back at least to the early christians, comes to full bloom in the medieval village and with the rise of the centralized nation state becomes the organisational form of minorities that pretend to anticipate the New Society as Christians, early Socialists, or in the modern age spiritual communities that follow a path of enlightenment and intentional communities that put at the cenre of their living and working together shared values.
